April 23, 2020

Are you getting a high electricity bill suddenly in your household? time to check your inverter. After the introduction of inverter technology to India, most of the households installed inverter to escape the regular shutdown of electricity. There were days of a compulsory shut down due to a shortage of power supply throughout India.

An inverter was a relief for many households since it gave uninterrupted power supply during power shutdown in the night. So in the event of enjoying the new technology, most of us forgot to maintain it.

I personally found this problem after years of paying a huge EB bill myself. My household’s EB charges were increasing exponentially even though we had fair usage. We were blaming it on the air condition and on our old fridge. But the real culprit was the Inverter, do you wanna know how?

Continuous Charging.

Inverters come with a regular 150 Ah battery which has to be regularly maintained by checking the water level in the battery. If the levels are not maintained in the battery, it gets reduced as you consume the charge, and battery will be always on CHARGE mode. This is the scenario which happens with all household.

Another reason for the continuous charging of the battery is because of using the battery even after the life expiration of the battery.

If your electricity bill is increasing with fair usage, all you have to do is check your inverter.

In order to save money on your electricity bill maintain your inverter battery regularly.

How to maintain your Battery .

  1. Always place the battery in open space and where enough circulation of air is there, so it doesn’t heat up.
  2. Check the battery terminals periodically, if you have any acidic deposits clean and remove those deposits from the terminals.
  3. Every 45 days check the water level, Ensure it is not below the minimum.
  4. Use only distilled water to top-up the battery, if you found the levels are below the minimum.
  5. Replace the battery, after it expires.

Follow these simple steps to save money on electricity bills.
