We all have different principles in our life, some are common and some are not so common, but there are few great principles you should consider having in your life.
I am going to talk about few of mine which I think it will help you.
This one habit is natural for many of us, being curious. Curiosity is a driving force for us to learn something. From a very young age I maintained my curiosity to know things, like how things work, and why is that happening. This habit has made me know new concepts in life, and being curious is natural to me.
When you are curious, learning is natural. If you have noticed small kids, they are so curious to know things. Children feel challenged when they don’t know something, they develop a curiosity to know the topics which are new to them. And these traits are good for your life, like how Steve Jobs said “stay hungry stay foolish”
“Why” is a magic word to solve problems and to find solutions for any situation. Asking why will give you answers, why is the word people always use when they are in the troubleshooting mode.
You know why Toyota cars are so reliable ?? because they follow a principle called “5 Why”. During the early days of their car manufacturing, they experienced many new problems. As part of the problem-solving solution, Mr. Sakichi Toyoda developed this ” 5 Why” technique.
If you encounter any issue ask 5 why, and in your 5th why you will know your root cause. Toyota follows these principles to make reliable cars. And you can implement this habit in your life to know the root cause for your problems. It is a kind of self-evaluation process to make your life better.
This is a very interesting principle, I feel this will open many dimensions in your thought process. I first came across this principle in a classic movie ” 12 Angry Men” and recently in the movie called ” World war Z“. In these movies, they explain the process of thesis and antithesis.
This is how it works, when a group supports a point there should be one guy who contradicts it. This is to bring the topic for discussion.
This principle is one of the main conditions in the Israel security council, when a matter is brought to discussion in a 10 member council, it is a rule for anyone member to be the 10th man to contradict the council.
It doesn’t make the tenth man is always right, but the council should research and bring points to make the right conclusion.
Don’t you think this rule is very essentials in today’s world where we are biased by fake information and twisted stories?
This rule will makes us to see the other side of the story.
You should see the “12 angry men” movie to understand this better .
