This time I am going to tell you about a true story of a man who made big in the ready made food Industry. PC Musthafa was born in Wayanad, Kerala India in a under privileged family. He was the child of a coolie and his mother never had a chance for a basic school education.

Early days…

Musthafa  was very average in his studies, after failing in his 6th grade he lost interest in his education and joined his father as a loader to bring some extra money to the family. His father always dreamt of making his children educated and raise the living standard of his family.

Seeing Musthafa wasting his chance of betterment, his school teacher approached his father and convinced him to give second chance to Musthafa to join school again. Since he dropped out of school in his 6th grade , he had to continue his education with other juniors. He utilized his second chance well and made a good improvement in his education.

He passed his 10th grade with flying colors, but his father had no money to support him in advancing his education further. That’s when he had a chance to have a free education at Farooq junior college in Calicut, Kerala, India with free stay and free meal. Musthafa utilized every chance which came across him and came out more stronger.

The desire to make his life better for him and his family made him to give a engineering entrance exam and got admitted in the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Calicut, Kerala , India. He pursued his education in computer science engineering and worked in many MNC’s after his graduation.

Starting ID fresh…

After working for few year , he developed an interest to do masters of Business administration, and he cracked the CAT and got admitted in the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. In 2005 while he was studying his MBA he used to discuss his thought of starting a business with his cousins. That’s when his cousin gave an idea of starting a Idly batter business because there was no series player at that time in the business. Musthafa took his cousin advice seriously and started the business with a initial seed capital of Rs 25000. He also had the helping hand of his cousins , Shamsudeen TK, Abdul Nazer, Jafar TK, and Noushad TA,to operate the business with great quality.

Initially they operated from a 550Sqft kitchen with two grinders and a sealing machine, they decided to invest more once they achieve the target sales of 100 packets per day.

Following nine months they accomplished this objective and PC Mustafa contributed 6 lakh Rupees and moved to a 800 square feet space with 2000 kg limit, which is around 2,000 packets.

PC Musthafa finished his MBA and officially joined as the CEO responsible for the Marketing and finance department of the organization.

Challenges….

On  April 2006 morning, the founder were facing a problem which could have made them shut shop. The idly batter which they supplied to a small store in Bangalore created a small blast because of over fermentation. Since the small store had no refrigerator the batter got over fermented and exploded in the packet.

They came back to drawing board which made them to redesign the packet which can do controlled fermentation and chose outlets that could have a refrigeration facility.

In 2008, they chose to set up an manufacturing plant thus Mustafa contributed another 40 lakh by selling his  property in Wayand for Rs 40 lakh and set up a 2,500 square feet manufacturing plant in Hoskote. It was here that they chose to construct and make special equipment that would help them scale.

The Growth….

ID fresh expanded its operation because of growing demand and to provide different markets like Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. In 2013, they began providing their items to Dubai, and had a different manufacturing plant in every city.

In 2017, the group raised $25 million financing drove by Premji Invest. With this, iD Fresh centered around setting up five huge assembling offices in India (Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata) and the Middle East (Ajman).

PC Musthafa took advantage of the open door and is presently ready to lead the organization to making 100 crore income with the venture of 4 crore rupees.
