Update (2026): This post originally covered Citibank’s IndianOil credit card — but Citibank exited the Indian consumer banking market entirely, with Axis Bank acquiring its full credit card portfolio in March 2023. The card described below is now the IndianOil Axis Bank Credit Card, the direct successor with updated terms.
There are only a few credit cards that give genuinely good rewards on everyday purchases the way a fuel-focused card can. The IndianOil Axis Bank Credit Card remains one of the better fuel-reward options in India if you fill up at IndianOil outlets regularly.
It’s eligible for salaried individuals and self-employed applicants with standard KYC documents — address proof and income proof are typically all you need.
You earn EDGE Reward Points on your spending, redeemable specifically at IndianOil (IOCL) fuel outlets. This is a brand-specific tie-up, so the fuel benefit applies only at IOCL stations, not other fuel brands.
Current reward structure: 20 reward points per ₹100 spent at IOCL fuel outlets (roughly 4% value back), 5 points per ₹100 on online shopping (about 1% value back), and standard points on other spending. There’s a monthly cap of ₹5,000 in eligible fuel spend for the accelerated rate, and settlement amounts must fall between ₹400-₹4,000 per transaction to qualify.
| Purchase | Amount Spent | Reward Rate | Value Back |
| Fuel at IOCL (monthly cap ₹5,000) | ₹5,000 | 4% | ₹200 |
| Online shopping (monthly cap ₹5,000) | ₹5,000 | 1% | ₹50 |
At the maximum eligible monthly fuel spend, that’s roughly ₹200/month in value back from fuel alone — around ₹2,400/year, equivalent to about 24-34 liters of fuel depending on current prices, plus whatever you earn from other spending categories on top.

If you don’t fill up at IndianOil specifically, the SBI BPCL Credit Card or Indian Oil HDFC Bank Credit Card offer similar fuel-focused rewards tied to their respective fuel brand partnerships instead.
